CHALLENGE FUND

FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE CHALLENGE FUND

Aimed at project holders and companies in the tourism sector, the Challenge Fund started on 4th December 2017. Its objective is to find new and innovative ideas to meet and exceed the expectations of tourists, and to shake up this expanding sector.

As Claude Borna, Director of Sèmè City, explains, "Here in Africa, we have fertile ground for the development of a new form of entrepreneurship which is economical, agile, resilient, circular and truly inclusive. However we need to better support entrepreneurs, particularly in the area of skills development and access to capital. The Challenge Fund looks to break down these barriers and allow innovators to test their projects, in situ, in one of Benin's six tourist sites under development".

Les candidats finalistes, retenus après examen de leur dossier par les équipes de Sèmè City, d'ESPartner et de Vélior, and then asked to pitch their ideas to a panel at the innovation forum to demonstrate the feasibility of their concept and how it might improve the attractiveness of Benin as a tourist destination.

The chosen projects will receive up to US$500,000 (more than 250,000,000 FCFA) in funding as well as access to experts and Sèmè City incubator resources.
